Bluetooth Connection Issues
PLEASE NOTE: If you are not able to see the device in the App, then try a hard reset.
For any controller built before 2022, the A and B buttons can be used to force a pairing. Any devices made after 2022 do not have this option.
One of the most commonly reported issues with the PWM-30-UL is the customer receives the unit, installs it, and initially connects to the device. However, after using it for a short period of time (a week or so) they can no longer connect to the device. The following steps can be used to troubleshoot the problem for both iOS and Android devices.
These steps should be performed with a Go Power! Technical support person on the phone or on chat so any questions can be answered.
Is the Bluetooth symbol on the GP-PWM-30-UL turned on?
If the Bluetooth symbol is on this indicates that the GP-PWM-30-UL thinks it is connected to a device. Before beginning troubleshooting, try to make sure that the app has been forced closed and Bluetooth is turned off on all devices that have been paired with the GP-PWM-30-UL.
If the Bluetooth symbol does not disappear on the GP-PWM-30-UL please contact Go Power! technical support as there may be a hardware issue with your GP-PWM-30-UL.
To "Force Close" an app varies with each operating system and device. Click here for Android, and click here for iOS.
Android: GPS/Location
If using an Android phone and location is not enabled you may not be able to connect to the controller. Try turning on GPS or location by opening Setting>Security>Location. If not using an Android phone then skip this section.
iPhone: Delete and Reinstall
Delete the app on the iPhone using the following steps.
1. Hold the icon down until it flashes with an X in the upper corner as shown in the picture below.
2. Press the “X” to delete the app.
Then, try re-installing the app from the iOS store by clicking here.

Other Ways to Repair the Connection
Diagnosing Connection Issues
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. You should see the little Bluetooth symbol at the top of your phone’s screen. If you don’t, go into the settings to enable it.
- Determine which pairing process your device employs. In the case of our solar controller hold down the A and B button at the same time
- Turn on "discoverable" mode. First, go into your phone’s settings and tap on Bluetooth; doing so makes the phone visible to the controller.
- Make sure the two devices are in close enough proximity to one another
- Power the devices off and back on. A soft reset can sometimes resolve an issue.
- Toggle airplane mode on and off
Remove old Bluetooth Connections
If a Bluetooth device was previously paired with something else, turn off the other gadget. And if you are no longer planning on using that other device, unpair it from your Bluetooth device to prevent future issues. In iOS settings, you can remove a device by tapping on its name and then Forget this Device. In Android settings, tap on a device’s name, then Unpair. After removing a device, start at step 1 on this list.
You can also reset Bluetooth on devices that can pair to more than one device. This clears all pairings from the device so you can start fresh. Search "reset" device name to instructions from the manufacturer.
Delete a device from a phone and rediscover it
If your phone sees the device but isn’t receiving data from it, sometimes it helps to start from scratch. In iOS settings, you can remove a device by tapping on its name and then Forget this Device. In Android settings, tap on a device’s name, then Unpair. After removing a device, start at step 1 on this list.
Get away from the Wi-Fi router. Another potential obstacle to successful pairing is interference from devices that use the same spectrum, such as your Wi-Fi router. Wi-Fi has been designed to cope with this, but it might not be a good idea to have your devices directly on top of the router.
Move away from a USB 3.0 port
Interference from USB 3.0 is also possible. Newer laptops, for example, often have a higher-speed USB 3.0 port, so if the connection isn't happening, try pairing your Bluetooth gadgets away from the computer.
Update the hardware’s firmware. IOS and operating system upgrades can sometimes cause connectivity issues that are repaired on later versions of the OS.
Clear the Bluetooth cache (Android only)
Sometimes apps will interfere with Bluetooth operation and clearing the cache can solve the problem. Go Settings > System > Advanced> Reset Options > Reset Wi-fi, mobile & Bluetooth
Hard Reset Controller
Finally, you may need to do a "hard reset" on the controller to restore the connection. This involves removing power from the battery and solar panel from the solar controller. Follow this video to complete a hard reset:
