Products Affected: GP-SW1500-TS
Problem Description:
The GP-SW1500-TS produces a balanced 55/110 VAC system. This system uses two 55VAC hots to make 110VAC output. This system works much like a 120/240VAC system. These systems run appliances very efficiently with very little noise and will work with GFCI outlets without issue.
When using a plug in tester for polarity you will see a faint light on the reversed polarity light. This is normal with a 55/110VAC system. The tester is designed to see if there is power flow coming out of the neutral wire. In a 55/110VAC system you will see 55VAC coming out on the neutral line which will light the LED. There is no electrical danger to this system and all AC appliances will work exactly as they were designed to.
When the unit is High Pot tested at the factory the bonded neutral screw is removed and placed in the non-bonded position to pass the test. As Shown below. The screw remains in this position once delivered to the dealer.
Because of this, when inverting, a circuit tester will show an open ground when plugged into outlets yet the outlets do operate as normal and as mentioned with less noise.
Also when inverting the output voltage when measured between ground and hot out as well and between ground and neutral will only show half the output voltage when inverting.
Ground and hot out
Ground and neutral out
It will however show the full 110 output when measure between hot and neutral out.
If connected to grid power the output will appear normal if measured between ground and neutral and hot.
This is all considered normal operation of the inverter.
